Supporting Leadership Opportunities

The California Cadet Corps' incredible history of allowing students an opportunity to learn decisive academic and leadership skills has been well documented. Stories of struggling middle-school and high-school students joining the cadet corps and thriving afterwards are commonplace with the instructors, commandants, and adult leaders that develop these cadets. However, "[summer] encampment is the pivotal event in the life of a Cadet." according the California Cadet Corps' website. In order to provide the opportunity to develop these leadership skills in a dedicated environment, the Colonel Baxter Leadership Scholarship financially supports five cadets during summer encampment.

Recognizing Colonel Baxter's Leadership

From the Mighty Eighth Brigade in Southern California to advising the 10th Brigade on corps-wide matters, LTC Baxter has imparted his leadership, wisdom, and discipline on countless cadets throughout the state. His overwhelming dedication to the progress and development of cadets is common knowledge throughout the corps. This scholarship is a tribute to LTC Baxter's unwavering leadership sagacity and attempts to provide opportunities of development to those meritorious cadets willing and eager to learn.
